when cooking, i think of this:

of all those people who have packed all those things i use: like today i bought some dried apricots from turkey, and they came in this totally elegant little package, arranged neatly in little rows, beautifully done.

i wish i could personally thank those people who do this – probably for not big wages and all that, but beautifully – but i cannot.

so i say this here – thank you, gratias, kudos to all you who do the little packing tasks, including, but not limited to packing dates, apricots, peanuts, greens, and falafels. and to those that make deli wraps and kebabs and pita breads and tortillas, and pel’menji. without you the world would be a totally different place, much more unfriendly and cold, and gloomy.
