the nights of petunia blossom

and cicadas singing through the not-quite-autumn dusk.

it is time to sit on a riverbank, or a balcony, or the edge of a roof, and watch the world float by dreamily.

it is the time to gather one’s summer into little jars of fragrant memories.

it is time to talk slowly, to exchange what one is for what another is, and so both become richer.
