to stand barefoot next to a tree, and extend a hand
and grow into the grass and soil beneath, and reach up, out, towards the sun.
or the cloudy sky, or the darkness of night, starlit, moonlit, otherwise.
to hear the grass grow.
to commune with the birds in the branches, as they seek refuge, build their homes, take care of their young, or just sit there, waiting for the next bug.
to listen to the winds pass by.
and maybe – if the tree allows – to feel how the seeds fly away, to start a forest somewhere else.
and then unjoin the roots and skin, and walk
quietly away, barefoot.
