what time does, and how to stand in it

the musical itself is… one can watch it once or twice. this song though, is worth looking at again.

Time hangs me like a suit in its wardrobe,
to be the food for all the world’s moths
Time hangs us like a suit in its wardrobe,
to be the food for all the world’s moths

Time hangs me out like a shirt from the laundry
For all the world’s winds to tear apart
Time hangs us out like a shirt from the laundry
For all the world’s winds to tear apart

Time hangs us like a cross round its neck,
and the salt blood streams all over it

Time hangs us like a pot over fire,
and the concoction will be all mine to drink
Time hangs us like a pot over fire,
And the concoction will be all ours to drink

Time hangs me up like the keys on a hook,
So that man’s heart remains locked
Time hangs us up like the keys on a hook,
So that man’s heart remains locked

Time hangs us all up like a swing on a tree
So we confuse the good with the bad

Time, why are you dragging behind like saliva,
From the days of war and the blood?
All is new, all is new, all is changed.

When you hang me, when you throw me,
when you press me down in the mud
i still get up, i still stand tall
i still get up, i still stand tall
before i join those before me
i want to be washed clean

When you hang me, when you throw me,
i still love, i still hope,
i still am of use to this world
i still love, i still hope,
before i open that final door,
i want to know i am clean.

Time, why are you dragging behind like saliva,
From the days of war and the blood?
Be new now, be all new, be all changed.
Why are you dragging behind like saliva?

  1. Ah, you’ve been translating the untranslatable again. And the result is much better than I could imagine. But still, it’s impossible.

    • it certainly is impossible. and i know i fail in the details. this, after all, is a sandbox, a place to make little corrupted castles and watch them crumble.
thanks for the positive ‘better’ though. i appreciate that.

say something
