the ears of grass

Drum of raindrops
Splash, rat-a-tat rapid
The tatto small feet beat
On the tin roof, escaping.

Your silence covers
The past and eternities
Whole layers of magma
Waiting to vent
Creating new continents

Do raindrops make noise
If the grass has no ears?
The falling leaves twirl
A rustling descant.

Your eyes express
The mountains falling
Into the seas, rising
Tsunamis of pain
Catastrophically close
To where the heart is.

Changing whole landscapes,
We freeze the resin of time
Emberfully.
